Urgent dental care
If you're in pain, here's who to contact and when.
Call 999 or go to A&E if:
- swelling is spreading to your eye or neck
- you're struggling to breathe, swallow or speak
- bleeding from your mouth won't stop after 20 minutes of firm pressure
- you've had a serious injury to your face, mouth or teeth
If you're our patient and we're open
Call us on phone number coming soon as early in the day as you can. We keep appointments free every day for patients in pain. Urgent treatment costs £27.90 unless you get free treatment.
If we're closed, or you're not our patient
Call NHS 111 or go to 111.nhs.uk. They'll assess you and book you into an urgent dental service if you need one.
While you wait
- Take painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen, following the instructions on the packet. Ask a pharmacist if you're not sure which is safe for you.
- Don't hold painkillers against the tooth or gum.
- If an adult tooth has been knocked out, hold it by the crown, not the root, put it back in its socket if you can, or keep it in milk, and get help straight away.
